HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Marvin Lindsey, MSW,
4CADC, on the occasion of his retirement as chief executive
5officer of the Community Behavioral Healthcare Association of
6Illinois (CBHA), one of the largest behavioral health
7associations in the state, after 16 years of dedicated
8service; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Marvin Lindsey has provided leadership, guidance,
10and advocacy for member agencies in the design and building of
11an effective community behavioral health system throughout
12Illinois; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Marvin Lindsey was also the executive for a
14limited liability company of behavioral health providers that
15served as a vehicle for providers to develop integrated care
16models and enter into value-based contracting arrangements;
17and
 
18    WHEREAS, Marvin Lindsey has dedicated his professional
19life to the field of mental health and substance use; during
20his tenure at CBHA, he served on numerous state task forces and
21advisory committees; and

1    WHEREAS, Marvin Lindsey has worked tirelessly to ensure
2individuals living with behavioral health conditions have
3access to the resources they need to live productive and
4healthy lives; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Marvin Lindsey has been deeply committed to and
6involved in ensuring that the field of behavioral healthcare
7is as diverse as the individuals, families, and communities it
8serves; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Marvin Lindsey is an advisory board member of the
10DePaul University School of New Learning's Adult Men of Color
11Initiative, which supports the recruitment and retention of
12adult men of color in the School of New Learning and other
13DePaul degree programs; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Marvin Lindsey also serves on the Community
15Advisory Committee of the University of Illinois at Chicago's
16Urban Health Program, which is charged with recruiting,
17retaining, and graduating underrepresented racial/ethnic
18minority students, specifically African Americans, Latinos,
19and Native Americans, in health professions, while
20additionally expanding educational opportunities for these
21populations at the pre-college (K-12), undergraduate,
22graduate, and professional levels; and

1    WHEREAS, Marvin Lindsey is also the co-chair of the UIC
2Jane Addams College of Social Work's Dean Advisory Committee,
3which provides guidance on strategic directions in support of
4the college's mission of advancing social, racial, and
5economic justice; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Marvin Lindsey is an alumnus of the Diversity
7Executive Leadership Program (DELP), which provides
8individuals from underrepresented segments of the association
9community an opportunity to advance into the ranks of
10leadership in the association profession by offering access to
11the American Society of Association Executives' (ASAE)
12educational programs, career guidance, mentoring, volunteer
13service, and networking opportunities; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Marvin Lindsey has been an integral part of the
15success of CBHA, which is one of the largest mental health,
16substance abuse, and youth services trade associations in
17Illinois; he was dedicated to representing the interests of
18its members in order to ensure access and availability to a
19comprehensive system of accountable, quality behavioral
20healthcare services for the people of Illinois; he led CBHA
21through challenging times and remained open and flexible in
22meeting the needs of CBHA members and clients; and
 
23    WHEREAS, Marvin Lindsey has performed his duties with

1integrity, dignity, respect for others, and professionalism;
2he has earned the admiration and respect of members of the
3Illinois General Assembly, legislative staff, association
4members and staff, and the general public; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Marvin Lindsey's contributions to the field of
6behavioral health will benefit many individuals for years to
7come; and
 
8    WHEREAS, In retirement, Marvin Lindsey looks forward to
9spending time with his family and continuing to lend his
10support and counsel to students seeking educational
11opportunities in behavioral healthcare; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
13HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
14we congratulate Marvin Lindsey on his retirement as chief
15executive director of the Community Behavioral Healthcare
16Association of Illinois, thank him for his many years of
17service to CBHA and the people of Illinois, and wish him many
18happy and healthy retirement years; and be it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to Marvin Lindsey as an expression of our esteem and
21respect.
