HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to recognize Lou Mallers on being named
4Darien's 2022 Citizen of the Year; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Lou Mallers, a veteran of the United States Army
6Reserve, moved to Darien in 1989; choosing a professional life
7in mortgage finance, he serves as Vice President of Business
8Development at Compass Mortgage; as an active mortgage banker,
9he has served as President of the Illinois Mortgage Bankers
10Association; and
 
11    WHEREAS, As a member of the Darien Lions Club since 1990,
12Lou Mallers has organized, or has helped to organize, more
13than 30 years of community and holiday events; the Lions Club
14has assumed a key role in Darien's annual remembrance of 9/11
15and the sacrifices made by firefighters, first responders, and
16all U.S. service personnel; and
 
17    WHEREAS, At Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Darien, Lou
18Mallers is a leader of his parish's lay community; as service
19commissioner within the parish council, he has led a corps of
20volunteers in the ongoing Christian life of his church and its
21outreach efforts to those in need, which includes the St.
22Vincent DePaul clothing drive; and

1    WHEREAS, As a homeowning citizen of Darien, Lou Mallers
2has served or serves actively on three decisive citizens'
3committees, including the School District #86's Citizen's
4Referendum Advisory Committee, the Darien Economic Development
5Commission, and, since 2012, the Darien Planning and Zoning
6Commission, on which he currently serves as chairperson; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Lou Mallers' community life includes his long
8service as president of the Pinehurst Homeowners' Association,
9a challenge that reached its height on June 20, 2021 when the
10neighborhood was hit by a tornado; as the HOA president, he
11mobilized needed help to restore the subdivision's
12infrastructure; and
 
13    WHEREAS, As a tribute to his active life of community
14participation, the Darien Citizen of the Year Committee has
15unanimously chosen to honor Lou Mallers as Darien's 2022
16Citizen of the Year; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
18HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
19we recognize Lou Mallers as Darien's 2022 Citizen of the Year,
20warmly congratulate his family that includes wife Carol, son
21and daughter-in-law Jeff and Carmen Mallers, and grandchildren
22Kendell and Kellen Mallers, and wish him many years of

1continued community life and service; and be it further
 
2    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
3presented to Lou Mallers and his wife, Carol Mallers.
