HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Jacquelyne D. "Jacky"
4Grimshaw on receiving the 2022 Sharon D. Banks Award for
5Humanitarian Leadership in Transportation; and
 
6    WHEREAS, The Sharon D. Banks Award is an honor presented
7by the Transportation Research Board that recognizes
8individuals whose accomplishments exemplify a caring nature
9and depth of character by making a significant difference in
10the lives of those who use, deliver, or support transportation
11services; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Jacky Grimshaw joined the Center for Neighborhood
13Technology (CNT) as its vice president of policy,
14transportation, and community development in 1992; she has
15developed its capacity to engage in public policy advocacy and
16transportation planning, transportation research,
17environmental justice, public participation tool development,
18GIS mapping, community economic development, and air quality;
19she advocates for and provides expertise to increase transit
20in the Chicago region; she has previously created and led
21CNT's transportation and air quality programs and led CNT's
22Transit Future campaign in the fight for mass transit reform
23and dedicated funding in the Chicago region; she has led CNT's

1policy efforts at all levels of government since 2005; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Prior to joining CNT, Jacky Grimshaw spent time
3as a researcher in hematology and gastroenterology, worked in
4the Chicago Public School district, and served in both state
5and federal government, including as political advisor for the
6late Mayor Harold Washington and as director of the Mayor's
7Office of Intergovernmental Affairs and then as deputy city
8treasurer for economic development; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Jacky Grimshaw was born in Macon, Georgia; she
10graduated from Loretto Academy Catholic High School in Chicago
11in 1960; she earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from
12Marquette University in 1965, an education certificate from
13Chicago Teachers College in 1967, and completed the Master of
14Arts in Public Policy requirements at Governors State
15University; she married William J. Grimshaw in 1964, and they
16have two children; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
18HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
19we congratulate Jacquelyne D. "Jacky" Grimshaw on receiving
20the 2022 Sharon D. Banks Award for Humanitarian Leadership in
21Transportation; and be it further
