HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Charles
4"Hank" Salemi of Libertyville, who passed away on January 9,
52022; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Hank Salemi was born to Barbara and Henry Salemi
7in Birmingham, Alabama on May 10, 1964; he graduated from the
8University of Alabama; he settled in Libertyville in 2006; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Hank Salemi began his career with Ringling
10Brothers/Feld Entertainment in Boston; he then moved to
11Chicago, working for the Ogden Corporation; he found his
12professional home of 24 years at Six Flags; he served as chief
13marketing officer for Six Flags Corporate, based in Oklahoma
14City, where he oversaw all marketing and advertising for 40
15parks worldwide; he became park president of Six Flags Great
16America in Gurnee in 2006, and he was responsible for both
17full-time and seasonal team members for 16 years; he was
18deeply loved and respected by his entire Six Flags family; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Hank Salemi was a global leader and expert in his
20field, serving on the board of the International Association
21of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) for the last seven
22years; he was elected as the association's treasurer and

1chairman of the IAAPA Compensation Committee; he received the
2distinguished Special Services Award for his exemplary
3contributions to the IAAPA; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Hank Salemi was a member of St. Joseph Parish in
5Libertyville; he was an avid fan of the University of Alabama;
6he enjoyed attending poker night with friends, cooking on his
7grill and smoker, making his father's Italian pasta sauce, and
8nights out with friends; he loved planning trips and seeing
9the world with his family; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Hank Salemi was known as a creative genius for
11his writing skills and abilities to tell a story and deliver a
12punchline; he was devoted to his wife, daughter, and the
13family dogs Gus, Dixie, and Ben; he will be remembered for his
14wit, wisdom, integrity, and kindness; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Hank Salemi was preceded in death by an infant
16daughter, Colleen Salemi; his father, Henry Salemi; and his
17sister, Sherry Cummings; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Hank Salemi is survived by his wife of 21 years,
19Kathleen; his daughter, Claire; his mother, Barbara Salemi;
20his sister, Debra Salemi; and many nieces, nephews, and
21in-laws; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
2HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
3we mourn the passing of Charles "Hank" Salemi and extend our
4sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
5and loved him; and be it further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to the family of Hank Salemi as an expression of our
8deepest sympathy.
