HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Robert
4"Bob" Deignan, a long-time resident of Glen Ellyn, who passed
5away on October 16, 2021; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Bob Deignan played many roles in life; he was an
7Eagle Scout, a local sports enthusiast, a Significant Sig, a
8teacher, an attorney, and a family man; of all these, he loved
9the role of father most of all and especially enjoyed problem
10solving with his children and grandchildren; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Bob Deignan practiced law at Baker and McKenzie
12in Chicago where his passion for the law and his strong work
13ethic led to a successful 53-year career; among his most
14rewarding projects was the pro bono work he did serving
15underprivileged students at the McCutcheon School in Chicago;
16his core belief was that large law firms should lead by example
17on pro bono work, support for legal aid, and access to justice;
18and
 
19    WHEREAS, Bob Deignan was instrumental in the creation and
20development of the Chicago Bar Foundation Law Firm Leadership
21Circle and served as its inaugural chair; and

1    WHEREAS, Bob Deignan received many accolades over the
2years including the prestigious Chicago Bar
3Association/Chicago Bar Foundation Edward J. Lewis II Pro Bono
4Service Award in 2008; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bob Deignan will be remembered for his devotion
6to family, his faith, his generosity, his irrepressible
7enthusiasm for simple pleasures, his love of travel and a
8certain twinkle in his eye; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Bob Deignan is survived by his loving wife of 59
10years, Ann; his children, Amy (Paul) Manganelli, Julie
11Deignan, Jane (Matt) Sobolewski, and John (Anna) Deignan; and
12his grandchildren, Caitlin, Michael, Robert, Leo, Jack,
13Beatrice, and Danny; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
15HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
16we mourn the passing of Robert "Bob" Deignan and extend our
17sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
18and loved him; and be it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Bob Deignan as an expression of our
21deepest sympathy.
