HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Louis J.
4"Louie" Giordano, formerly of Springfield, who passed away on
5May 3, 2020; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Louie Giordano was born in Springfield to Carl
7and Louise (Gentile) Giordano on December 22, 1946; he
8graduated from Griffin High School and received his bachelor's
9degree from Illinois College and his master's degree in
10political studies from the University of Illinois at
11Springfield; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Louie Giordano was active in local and state
13government for much of his life; he founded Giordano
14Consulting Services, which became a successful government
15relations firm that provided legislative services to several
16statewide trade associations in Illinois; he also co-founded
17the Systems Evaluation and Analysis Group, which teamed with
18notable companies, including IBM, Novell, and others, to
19introduce computer networking systems to several state
20agencies and private businesses; his company maintained
21offices in Springfield, Schaumburg, and Phoenix, Arizona; and
 
22    WHEREAS, Louie Giordano served in Governor James

1Thompson's Cabinet for five years as director of the
2Department of Personnel and as the first director of the
3Department of Central Management Services; preceding his
4cabinet positions, he was responsible for the re-design of the
5social services delivery system in the Department of Children
6and Family Services and was the chief administrative officer
7for the Department of Public Aid, where, in addition to his
8administrative role, he designed and managed the
9implementation of the first and most innovative photo I.D.
10system in the nation; he also served as executive director of
11the Illinois Republican Party for two years; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Louie Giordano taught Public Administration and
13Political Science at Loyola University of Chicago and the
14College of DuPage; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Louie Giordano enjoyed playing golf and
16basketball, attending sporting events, and traveling; his
17favorite travel destination was Italy, and he visited many
18times; his love of golf led him to design a unique putter and
19market it under the Sweetroll trade name; he also received
20several U.S. patents for golf club designs; therefore, be it
 
21    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
22HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
23we mourn the passing of Louis J. "Louie" Giordano and extend

1our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who
2knew and loved him; and be it further
 
3    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4presented to the family of Louie Giordano as an expression of
5our deepest sympathy.
