HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Jenny
4Elizabeth Geirnaeirt of Jacksonville, who passed away on June
512, 2020; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Jenny Geirnaeirt was born in Jacksonville to
7Andrew and Sandra Jean Eoff Stremlau on September 3, 1971; she
8graduated from Routt Catholic High School in 1989; she earned
9her communications degree from Illinois College, where she was
10an active member of Gamma Delta Literary Society; she married
11Terry Geirnaeirt at Rammelkamp Chapel on the Illinois College
12campus in Jacksonville on July 6, 2002; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Jenny Geirnaeirt was a longtime public servant in
14Jacksonville; she served under former State Representative Jim
15Watson; she then served as the legislative director for State
16Representative C.D. Davidsmeyer; she served as a Ward 4
17alderman from 2009 to 2015; she was appointed to Morgan County
18Treasurer in 2015, and she was re-elected in 2018; in
19recognition of her service as county treasurer, she was
20awarded the 2019 Illinois County Treasurer of the Year Award
21for Zone 2 by the Illinois County Treasurers' Association; she
22was noted by city and county officials for being a hard worker,
23full of life, and always a pleasure to be around; and

1    WHEREAS, Jenny Geirnaeirt was very active in her community
2and was involved with the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce,
3the Jacksonville Art Association and the Beaux Arts Ball, the
4Strawn Art Gallery, and the Routt/Our Saviour Dreams
5Fundraiser; she was a lifelong member of the Church of Our
6Saviour; she participated in league bowling for years and once
7received the honor of Bowler of the Year; she was an active
8supporter of her children's activities and loved being a
9"hockey mom"; she was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals
10and the St. Louis Blues; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Jenny Geirnaeirt was known as an exceptional
12cook, a problem solver, and someone with a larger than life
13presence who lit up every room she entered; she will be
14remembered as an incredible mother and the glue that held her
15large family together; her one of a kind personality will
16leave a mark on the Jacksonville community forever; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Jenny Geirnaeirt was preceded in death by her
18father; her stepfather, Robert Fisher; and her grandparents,
19Ralph and Dorothy Eoff; and
 
20    WHEREAS, At the time of her death, Jenny Geirnaeirt was
21survived by her husband; her children, Grace, Lilly, and Owen;
22her mother, Sandra Eoff Fisher; her brother, Andrew Stremlau;

1her sister, Julie Stremlau; and her numerous step-siblings,
2nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends;
3therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
5HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
6we mourn the passing of Jenny Elizabeth Geirnaeirt and extend
7our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who
8knew and loved her; and be it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Jenny Geirnaeirt as an expression
11of our deepest sympathy.
