HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to recognize Edward L. Wilson on the
4occasion of his 105th birthday; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Edward Wilson was born in Hammond, Louisiana on
6January 30, 1916; he moved to Chicago at the age of 5; he
7graduated from Tilden High School in 1934; he pledged Alpha
8Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. in 1941; he earned a degree in
9Industrial Arts from Western Virginia State University in
101943; he married Odessa Polk; he relocated to San Bernardino,
11California, where he worked for the U.S. Army Corps; he
12returned home to Chicago; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Edward Wilson and his business partners opened
14the Practical Trade School in Chicago, teaching television and
15radio repair; he worked as a quality control manager for Cook
16Electric as a biomedical component for NASA, and he worked
17closely on the Apollo missions with NASA; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Edward Wilson then worked as a quality control
19manager for Eaton Corporation, which included manufactured
20electrical components for cars, refrigerators, and stoves; he
21retired in 1985; and

1    WHEREAS, Edward Wilson learned to love the game of golf
2late in his life and enjoyed the game until he no longer felt
3comfortable leaving his wife's side; and
 
4    WHEREAS, During his long and productive lifetime, Edward
5Wilson has demonstrated in countless ways his dedication to
6the welfare of others and has earned the respect and affection
7of people from all walks of life and all ages; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Edward Wilson has lived during the most eventful
9century of this world's history; he has, in his quiet way, been
10an outstanding force for good and a stabilizing influence on
11those around him during these turbulent years; he now enjoys
12spending time with his family; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Edward Wilson is the father of Robert, Bruce, and
14Paula (Bill); the grandfather of nine; the great-grandfather
15of 13; and the great-great-grandfather of four; therefore, be
16it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
18HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
19we recognize Edward L. Wilson on the occasion of his 105th
20birthday, and we wish him continued peace, good health, and
21happiness; and be it further
