HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Cathy Piehl on the
4occasion of her retirement as a member of the Indian Prairie
5School District 204 Board of Education; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Cathy Piehl is a long-time resident of the Indian
7Prairie community; she earned her bachelor's degree in
8Psychology from Eastern Illinois University; she later earned
9her master's degree in Social Work, with an emphasis in
10administration, policy analysis, and community organizations,
11from the University of Illinois-Chicago; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Cathy Piehl was appointed to fill an unexpired
13term on the Indian Prairie School District 204 Board of
14Education in September 2008; she has served many roles on the
15board, including secretary from 2011 to 2013 and vice
16president from 2013 to 2015; through continued professional
17development and training with the Illinois Association of
18School Boards, she achieved and maintained master board member
19status; she was also designated a fellow in the association's
20LeaderShop Academy; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Cathy Piehl is an active volunteer with the
22Parent Diversity Advisory Council (PDAC) and the Indian

1Prairie Parents' Council (IPPC); she served as an IPPC
2representative and a legislative chair for the Watts Parent
3Teacher Association; through PDAC, she introduced Dialogue
4Circles, which offers various stakeholders within the district
5an opportunity to work together and share their experiences on
6sensitive topics relevant to the school community; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Cathy Piehl brought to the Indian Prairie School
8District 204 Board of Education a passion for cultivating
9strong partnerships between schools and the community;
10therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
12HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
13we congratulate Cathy Piehl on her retirement as a member of
14the Indian Prairie School District 204 Board of Education, and
15we thank her for her service to the community; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to Cathy Piehl as an expression of our esteem and
19respect.
