HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The Park Ridge Historical Society has been a
3leader in preserving the history and communicating the
4heritage of Park Ridge for the past 50 years; and
 
5    WHEREAS, The Park Ridge Historical Society formed in 1971
6when its leaders began maintaining a period home to transport
7visitors to the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries
8in Park Ridge; and
 
9    WHEREAS, The Park Ridge Historical Society has moved to
10various locations over the years, from the Gillick House to 41
11South Prairie to The Solomon Cottage, which became the Park
12Ridge History Center; the slogan "History on the Move" was
13adopted in 2009; and
 
14    WHEREAS, The Park Ridge Historical Society provides
15fascinating exhibits for anyone interested in learning about
16local history, including Wartime Memories – life as a teen
17during World War II, an oral history project, and Trailblazing
18Women of Park Ridge, an exhibit that highlights the work of
19four women with connections to Park Ridge; and
 
20    WHEREAS, The Park Ridge Historical Society offers
21neighborhood tours by foot, bike, or car, which allows

1residents and visitors the opportunity to engage with the
2history of their surroundings while moving through the Park
3Ridge community; and
 
4    WHEREAS, The Park Ridge Historical Society collects
5information on notable residents and historical sites, making
6history exciting and appealing through photos and
7storytelling; and
 
8    WHEREAS, The Park Ridge Historical Society has preserved
9history for half a century, keeping the memories that make up
10the character of the Park Ridge community alive; therefore, be
11it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
13HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
14we congratulate the Park Ridge Historical Society on its 50th
15anniversary, and we wish it many years of continued success;
16and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That suitable copies be presented to President
18Cheryl Williams, Vice President Brian Lazzaro, Secretary Joan
19Mattingly, Treasurer Missy Gentile, and the trustees of the
20Park Ridge Historical Society to congratulate them on this
21remarkable accomplishment.
