HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Robert
4"Bob" S. Molaro, who passed away on June 15, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bob Molaro was born to Angelina (Spizzirri)
6Molaro and Samuel Molaro in Chicago on June 29, 1950; he
7graduated from St. Ignatius College Prep in 1968, Loyola
8University in 1972, and John Marshall Law School in 1976; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Bob Molaro began his career with the City of
10Chicago Corporation Counsel; he then started his own law
11practice, which he continued until his passing; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Bob Molaro became the 12th Ward Democratic
13Committeeman in 1984; he served in the Illinois State Senate
14from 1993 to 2003; during his time as a state senator, he was
15the democratic spokesman on the Senate Executive, Higher
16Education, and Licensed Activities Committees and served on
17the Senate Insurance, Pensions, Judiciary, and Transportation
18Committees; he served in the Illinois House of Representatives
19from 2003 to 2008; during this time, he served as chairman of
20the Criminal Law Judiciary Committee and served on the Gaming,
21Public Safety Appropriations, Mass Transit, and Executive
22Leadership Committees; he was the lead sponsor of the bill

1that strengthened penalties for corporate official misconduct,
2for various gun control measures designed to protect
3neighborhood residents, and for several criminal justice
4reforms measures; throughout his political career, he
5championed animal protection issues and was a leading advocate
6for Illinois horse racing and gaming expansion; he retired
7from politics in 2008 and became a lobbyist; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Bob Molaro had a remarkable passion for life and
9was a caring and compassionate friend; most of all, he enjoyed
10spending time with his family, especially his 11
11grandchildren; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Bob Molaro was preceded in death by his parents
13and his brother, Peter (Michelle); and
 
14    WHEREAS, At the time of his death, Bob Molaro was survived
15by his wife, Barbara (nee Teska); his children, Samuel, Robyn
16(Timothy King), Miranda (Daniel Diaz), Michael (Jane
17Middleton), and Alexandra (Daniel Stell); his grandchildren,
18Rocco, Luciana, Francesca, Enzo, Daniel, Angelina, Evelyn,
19Felix, Jethro, Contessa, and Isabella; his sister-in-law,
20Nancy (Charles) Lunon; and his nephew, Nicholas (Rachel)
21Lunon; therefore, be it
 
22    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE

1HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
2we mourn the passing of Robert "Bob" S. Molaro and extend our
3sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
4and loved him; and be it further
 
5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of his resolution be
6presented to the family of Bob Molaro as an expression of our
7deepest sympathy.
