HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, It is highly fitting that the Illinois General
3Assembly pays honor and respect to individuals who have given
4their lives in service to their communities; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Wayne County Sheriff's Deputy Sean Riley was
6killed in the line of duty on December 29, 2021; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Deputy Riley was born to Doug and Mary Jo (Hill)
8Riley on November 5, 1983; he married Leslie Young on August
911, 2007; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Deputy Riley was a three-year veteran of the
11Wayne County Sheriff's Department, where he served as both a
12corrections officer and patrol deputy; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Deputy Riley was preceded in death by his mother,
14Mary Jo Riley; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Deputy Riley is survived by his wife, Leslie; his
16children, Logan Brown, Deegan Riley, and Mia Jo Riley; his
17father, Doug Riley; his sister, Spring (Darrin) Bonney; his
18mother-in-law, Glenda Young; his sister-in-law, Glenna (Jim)
19Michael; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and a special
20aunt, Margaret (Joe) Molt; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
2HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE
3SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate Interstate 64 in
4Wayne County from Mile Post 112 to 116 as the "Deputy Sean
5Riley Memorial Highway"; and be it further
 
6    RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation
7is requested to erect at suitable locations, consistent with
8State and federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs
9giving notice of the name "Deputy Sean Riley Memorial
10Highway"; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Deputy Riley and the Secretary of
13Transportation.
