    Amends the Code of Civil Procedure. Makes a technical change in a Section concerning construction of the Code.

1    AN ACT concerning civil law.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Code of Civil Procedure is amended by
5changing Section 1-106 as follows:
 
6    (735 ILCS 5/1-106)  (from Ch. 110, par. 1-106)
7    Sec. 1-106. Act to be liberally construed. This Act shall
8be liberally construed, to the the end that controversies may
9be speedily and finally determined according to the
10substantive rights of the parties. The rule that statutes in
11derogation of the common law must be strictly construed does
12not apply to this Act or to the rules made in relation thereto.
