AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 202

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 202 on page 1, by
3replacing line 5 with the following:
4"amended by changing Sections 8 and 12.6 as follows:
 
5    (50 ILCS 740/8)  (from Ch. 85, par. 538)
6    Sec. 8. Rules and minimum standards for schools. The
7Office shall adopt rules and minimum standards for such
8schools which shall include, but not be limited to, the
9following:
10        a. Minimum courses of study, resources, facilities,
11    apparatus, equipment, reference material, established
12    records and procedures as determined by the Office.
13        b. Minimum requirements for instructors.
14        c. Minimum basic training requirements, which a
15    trainee must satisfactorily complete before being eligible
16    for permanent employment as a firefighter in the fire
17    department of a participating local governmental agency.

1    Those requirements shall include training in first aid
2    (including cardiopulmonary resuscitation), training in the
3    administration of opioid antagonists as defined in
4    paragraph (1) of subsection (e) of Section 5-23 of the
5    Substance Use Disorder Act, and training in the history of
6    the fire service labor movement using curriculum and
7    instructors provided by a statewide organization
8    representing professional union firefighters in Illinois.
9        d. Training in effective recognition of and responses
10    to stress, trauma, and post-traumatic stress experienced
11    by firefighters that is consistent with Section 25 of the
12    Illinois Mental Health First Aid Training Act in a peer
13    setting.
