SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Frances Rose "Fran" Burkey of Joliet, who
4passed away on March 27, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Fran Burkey was born in Globe, Arizona to Louis
6and Mary (Krpan) Zdunich on January 10, 1939; she was one of 10
7children; she graduated from St. Francis Academy in Joliet; she
8received her nurse's training at Little Company of Mary in
9Evergreen Park; she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing
10at the University of St. Francis; she married Franklin Burkey
11at St. Mary's Nativity of Joliet in 1962; together, they raised
124 boys; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Fran Burkey was an active member of First
14Presbyterian Church of Joliet; she enjoyed traveling, the arts,
15reading, nature, gardening, and bird-watching; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Fran Burkey was known for being gentle and wise, a
17good listener with an open heart; for her, laughter came often
18and easily; she loved nothing more than gathering with loved
19ones to share food, music, stories, and humor; she will be
20remembered as a loving wife, a dear sister, a devoted mother,
21and a doting grandmother; and

1    WHEREAS, Fran Burkey is survived by her husband, Frank; her
2sons, John, James (Donna), Ben, and Loren (Amy); her
3grandchildren, Grace, Caleb, Evan, Aaron, Tobias, and Olivia;
4her brothers, Branimer, Nick, and Louis Zdunich; and her many
5nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Frances Rose "Fran" Burkey and extend our sincere condolences
9to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be
10it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Fran Burkey as an expression of our
13deepest sympathy.
