SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of William G. "Bill" Harvey of Springfield,
4who passed away on April 18, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bill Harvey was born in Sandoval to William Andrew
6and Ruby P. (McClelland) Harvey on November 27, 1925; he served
7in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946; he graduated from Iowa
8State University College of Engineering in 1948; he married
9Mary Katherine Wethington on July 2, 1949, and she preceded him
10in death on February 22, 2018; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Bill Harvey was employed by both the Chicago and
12Illinois Midland Railroad and Commonwealth Edison (Exelon) his
13entire life; he retired as President of the C&IM Railroad in
141987; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Bill Harvey was an official, board member, and
16trustee of the Abraham Lincoln Council, Boy Scouts of America
17from 1973 to 1986; he was awarded the "Silver Beaver" Award in
181986; he served as a board member and secretary of the Greater
19Springfield Chamber of Commerce; he was also a member of the
20Masonic Lodge, the Rotary Club, and the Order of the Elks; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Bill Harvey took great pleasure in spending time

1with his beloved dog, Penny; he enjoyed watching his children
2and grandchildren at sporting events and special occasions, and
3he never missed a game or event; he also enjoyed vacationing in
4Florida during the winter months and loved to have his family
5join him; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Bill Harvey was preceded in death by his parents
7and his sisters, Margaret Harvey, Winifred L. Britt, Ada Marie
8Haworth, and C. Aline Sumner; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Bill Harvey is survived by his sons, William A.
10(Theresa Bright) Harvey and Gary D. (Deb) Harvey; his daughter,
11Carol L. Ed; his grandchildren, Christopher (Lisa) Ed, Todd Ed,
12Joshua Ed, and Jason William (Leah) Harvey; and his
13great-grandchildren, Emma Ed and Alex Ed; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16William G. "Bill" Harvey and extend our sincere condolences to
17his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
18further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Bill Harvey as an expression of our
21deepest sympathy.
