SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of James O. "Jimmy" Williams of Moline, who
4passed away on May 5, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jimmy Williams was born to Francis X. and Hedwig
6L. (Mrosko) Williams in Springfield on May 12, 1939; he served
7in the U.S. Navy and was awarded a commendation for jumping
8into shark infested Atlantic waters to rescue two pilots who
9had crashed near his ship; he was honorably discharged after
10four years of service; Jimmy married Mary Ann Mahieu in Moline
11on October 22, 1960, and she preceded him in death on January
124, 2020; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Jimmy Williams worked as a milkman for Downing's
14Dairy; he then retired from Dohrn Transfer Company; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Jimmy Williams enjoyed helping others and often
16organized candy sales, pancake breakfasts, chili nights,
17sloppy joe suppers, and other events to raise money to support
18a cause he found important; by this example, he taught his
19children that by giving to others, you receive; he also modeled
20a tenacious work ethic and a determination to never quit
21trying, even when times were hard; and

1    WHEREAS, Jimmy Williams loved talking with people and
2making them laugh; he enjoyed golf, cards, and shooting pool;
3and
 
4    WHEREAS, Jimmy Williams was preceded in death by his
5parents; his wife; his grandchildren, MaryJoy Therese and
6Elijah Maccabee Williams; and his siblings, Sharon Van Daele
7and Thomas and Robert Williams; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Jimmy Williams is survived by his children, Scott
9(Elizabeth) Williams, Jeff (Chana) Williams, Tammy (Mike) Van
10Hoe, Eric (Christina) Williams, and Sean (Katie) Williams; his
11grandchildren, Ian and Seth Williams, Samantha Williams, Ryan
12(Audrey) Williams, Elizabeth, Hannah, Sarah, and Rebekah Van
13Hoe, Christian and Kolbe Williams, and Augustine, Anthony,
14Ambrose, Joseph, Joshua, George, Patrick, and Vincent
15Williams; and his great-grandchildren, Johnnie, Antonio, and
16Harvey Williams; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
19James O. "Jimmy" Williams and extend our sincere condolences to
20his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
21further
 
22    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
