SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Richard Walter "Dick" Lulow of Moline,
4formerly of Colona, who passed away on January 31, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dick Lulow was born in Muscatine, Iowa to Walter
6and Lola (Hinman) Lulow on October 27, 1927; he quit school
7after the 8th grade to get a job to assist his family; despite
8his shortened formal education, he was remembered for his
9intelligence and a proclivity for math; he moved with his
10family to Davenport, Iowa; he enlisted in the Navy at age 17
11after lying about his age and served aboard the USS Midway from
121944 to 1948; he married Frances Marie Hoffman in Muscatine on
13March 29, 1948; they were married for 68 years before her
14passing on March 8, 2016; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Dick Lulow worked for a few years at Case IH; he
16then worked as a tool & die maker at Farmall in Rock Island,
17retiring upon Farmall's closing; not ready to retire
18completely, he worked at Reynolds Engineering in Rock Island
19for a number of years; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Dick Lulow was a Union Skilled Trades card holder
21and a member of UAW Local 1310; he also served as his local
22union's financial secretary for a number of years; and

1    WHEREAS, Dick Lulow enjoyed doing activities with his wife,
2including bowling, going to lunch with good friends Ray and
3Shirley DePorter, and attending plays at Circa 21 and
4Playcrafters Theater; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dick Lulow was preceded in death by his parents;
6his wife, Frances; his oldest daughter, Carol Herring; his
7son-in-law, Dan Bebber; his sisters, Bonnie Lulow and Jean
8Bashaw; and his brothers, Bill, Fred, and Bob Lulow; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Dick Lulow is survived by his children, Pat
10Bebber, Don (Mary) Lulow, Cindy (Terry) Ayers, Mary (Greg)
11Kennedy, and Lori Gorman; his many grandchildren,
12great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and his
13special niece, Mary Lou Jordan; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16Richard Walter "Dick" Lulow and extend our sincere condolences
17to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
18it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Dick Lulow as an expression of our
21deepest sympathy.
