SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Bruce W. Yount of Bloomington, who passed
4away on December 19, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bruce Yount was born in Danville to Bruce R. and
6Elizabeth Summers Yount on May 31, 1925; he graduated from
7Catlin Township High School and served in the U.S. Navy; he
8graduated from Northwestern University and married Ethlyn
9Allbright in Western Springs on September 16, 1950; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Bruce Yount worked for Dunn & Bradstreet and then
11embarked on a career in finance and advertising in Detroit, New
12York City, and Chicago; in 1961, his family relocated to
13Bloomington, where he worked for Biddle Advertising for 13
14years; he finished his career working in computer services at
15Growmark; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Bruce Yount was a member of many clubs and
17organizations, including Wesley United Methodist Church, the
18American Legion, the Rotary, The Baby Fold, and the Crossroads
19Fair Trade Gift Shop; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Bruce Yount was a Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop
2118 at Wesley Church for 30 years; he was awarded one of the

1highest honors in Scouting, the Silver Beaver; he was
2well-liked as a camp counselor for Outdoor Ed and was known for
3his witty humor, big heart, and willingness to serve others;
4and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bruce Yount was preceded in death by his
6granddaughter, Stacey Williams, and his brothers, Ralph, Jim,
7and Joe; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Bruce Yount is survived by his wife of 69 years,
9Ethlyn; his children, Greg (Diane) Yount, Steve (Alison) Yount,
10and Debbie (Tom) Veale; his grandchildren, Shelley Dover, Sarah
11Eich, Kaitlin Yount, Jake Yount, Cassie Yount, Grace Veale, and
12John Veale; and seven great-grandchildren, David Williams,
13Aubrey Williams, Penny Dover, Ruby Dover, Colton Eich, Callahan
14Eich, and Jack West-Yount; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
17Bruce W. Yount and extend our sincere condolences to his
18family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
19further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Bruce Yount as an expression of our
22deepest sympathy.
