SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Gulliume "Bill" Moor, who passed away on
4June 10, 2019 at the age of 76; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gulliume Moor was born on March 7, 1943 in a
6working-class neighborhood of Chicago; he was proud of and
7loyal to his cultural roots in the largely Lithuanian community
8but also came to embrace an extremely wide range of cultural
9interests; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Gulliume Moor attended Roosevelt University,
11where he received a bachelor's degree as well as two master's
12degrees; he earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Philosophy from
13Northwestern University in 1972 and a Doctor of Psychology from
14the Illinois School of Professional Psychology in 1979; he was
15affectionately known as "Doc" by many of the young men he
16treated as a psychologist; he helped others a great deal and
17was known to be a "cool cat" in his dealings with patients; and
 
18    WHEREAS, In 1978, Gulliume Moor married Elaine Lewitter,
19with whom he shared both a professional and personal life for
20the next 40-plus years; Bill lived a life full of a quest for
21knowledge, studying subjects ranging from philosophy and
22psychology to mathematics and Spanish language and culture; he

1had recently completed a novel and enjoyed the culinary arts,
2becoming a gourmet cook; he was also an enthusiast and
3supporter of multiple cultural institutions, including the
4Lyric Opera, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Joffrey
5Ballet, and many theater groups; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Upon closing his practice and retiring, Gulliume
7Moor devoted his life to the arts, taking acting classes at
8Victory Gardens and other theaters; he enjoyed acting in plays
9and films and especially savored writing plays; he looked
10forward to dining all over the city with his wife and friends;
11he relished a good argument, and one was never bored for lack
12of conversation or camaraderie with Bill; he will be remembered
13by friends, colleagues, clients, and neighbors in Oak Park and
14in Mexico for his strength of character, generosity, and his
15inclusiveness; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Gulliume Moor is survived by his wife, Elaine;
17therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
19ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
20Gulliume "Bill" Moor and extend our sincere condolences to his
21family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
