SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Roland "Douglas" "Doug" Hovenden, who
4passed away on July 9, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Doug Hovenden was born in Shenandoah, Iowa to
6Roland Cavour and Berniece Margaret VanWyngarden Hovenden; he
7attended Shenandoah schools, Southwest Missouri State
8University, and Iowa State University, where he graduated in
91962; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Doug Hovenden began his teaching career as a
11vocational instructor in Graettinger, Iowa and then taught in
12Grinnell, Iowa; in 1966, he joined DeKalb Genetics as a
13district manager in 1966 and eventually relocated to
14Bloomington; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Doug Hovenden was compassionate and enjoyed
16helping others; he was a good husband, father, grandfather, and
17friend; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Doug Hovenden was preceded in death by his
19parents; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Doug Hovenden is survived by his wife of 56 years,

1Kathie Lou Rodgers Hovenden; his children, Kayla Karee
2(Douglas) Hill, Todd Douglas (Claudia) Hovenden, and Jodi Janee
3(Steven) Sackel; his grandchildren, Drake Hill, Katherine
4Hill, Connor Hill, Taylor Hill, Max Hovenden, Gabriella
5Hovenden, Cole Sackel, Cooper Sackel, and Olivia Sackel; his
6brothers, William Edwin Hovenden and Robert Alan Hovenden; and
7his sister, Donna Karee Henshaw; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Roland "Douglas" "Doug" Hovenden and extend our sincere
11condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
12him; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Doug Hovenden as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
