SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of William A. "Bill" Uphold of East Moline,
4who passed away on March 30, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bill Uphold was born in Moline to William E. and
6Dorothy Burke Uphold on May 7, 1946; after graduating from
7United Township High School, he served in the United States
8Navy and was stationed on Pearl Harbor; he married Sharon Daily
9in East Moline on August 30, 1969; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Bill Uphold worked as a press operator at John
11Deere Plow Planter Works and retired in 2006 after 42 years of
12service; he then worked at Water Works Car Wash in Moline; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Bill Uphold was a member of Fellowship Temple in
14Silvis; he enjoyed tinkering in his garage, attending car
15shows, telling jokes, and writing poems; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Bill Uphold was preceded in death by his parents
17and his sister, Mary Clare Depover; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Bill Uphold is survived by his wife of nearly 50
19years, Sharon; his daughter, Amy (Joe) Smith; his son, William
20(Michelle) Uphold; his sister, Patty Douglas; his

1grandchildren, Cole Smith, Keegan (Kaitlyn) Behrens, and
2Morgan Smith; his great-granddaughter; and his
3great-granddaughter on the way; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6William A. "Bill" Uphold and extend our sincere condolences to
7his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
8further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Bill Uphold as an expression of our
11deepest sympathy.
