SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Maura Cecilia Ordaz of Chillicothe, who
4passed away on February 22, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Maura Ordaz was born in Fresnillo, Zacatecas,
6Mexico to Carmen Sanchez and Macedonio Hernandez on November
722, 1925; she was raised in Veta Grande and Zacatecas,
8Zacatecas, Mexico; she married Jose (Joseph) Salvador Ordaz in
9Mexico in 1948; she moved to Chillicothe with her husband and
10family in 1957; she learned to speak English fluently by
11listening to her children and grandchildren and watching
12daytime television; she proudly became a naturalized U.S.
13citizen in 1990; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Maura Ordaz dedicated her life to caring for her
15family; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Maura Ordaz had a strong faith and was a member of
17St. Edward's Catholic Church in Chillicothe, where she served
18as a member of the Prayer Group; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Maura Ordaz was preceded in death by her husband,
20Jose; her children, Victor M., Roberto, Rebecca, and Ann E.;
21one of her grandchildren; and one of her great-grandchildren;

2    WHEREAS, Maura Ordaz is survived by her brother, Jesus
3Sanchez; her children, Irene Ordaz, Salvador Ordaz, Henry
4(Shirley) Ordaz, William (Tim Herold) Ordaz, Sylvia M. (Fred)
5Lauber, and Teresa M. (Patrick) Ordaz-Wood; her grandchildren,
6Edward C. Ordaz, Tony Ordaz, Tanya L. Ordaz, Hollie M. Ordaz,
7Cameron Ordaz, Brodie Ordaz, Robert E. Ordaz, Bethany E. Ordaz,
8Michael E. Ordaz, Brianna Fagerburg, and Leah Ordaz; her 12
9great-grandchildren; and her three great-great-grandchildren;
10therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Maura Cecilia Ordaz and extend our sincere condolences to her
14family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Maura Ordaz as an expression of our
18deepest sympathy.
