SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Randy Simmons of Peoria, who passed away
4on February 19, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Randy Simmons was born in Peoria on April 16,
61957; he attended Calvin Coolidge Middle School and Manual High
7School; he obtained two master's degrees, one in physical
8education and one in education administration; he married Patti
9Lavin on April 13, 1984; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Randy Simmons taught and coached at Spoon River
11Valley High School, Kingman Grade School, and Manual High
12School, where he coached football, baseball, and softball; he
13began his administration work at Sterling Grade School and the
14Alternative High School of Peoria; he then became the principal
15of his alma mater, Calvin Coolidge, and later the principal of
16Peoria Central High School; he retired from Peoria Public
17Schools in 2012 and joined Peoria Notre Dame in 2013; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Randy Simmons enjoyed going to the gym, golfing,
19taking a daily run with his wife, and filling up on his
20favorite fountain soda; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Randy Simmons was preceded in death by his

1parents, Jack and Patricia (Murphy) Maggio; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Randy Simmons is survived by his wife, Patti; his
3children, Nate (Tina) Simmons, Kate (Chad) Smith, and Sarah
4Simmons; his brothers, Mike (Bella) and Doug (Lori) Simmons;
5his sister, Kathy Simmons; and his grandchildren, Jack and
6Nora; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Randy Simmons and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
10friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Randy Simmons as an expression of
13our deepest sympathy.
