SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of David H. Nixon of Peoria, who passed away
4on August 5, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, An independent insurance agent for 44 years, David
6Nixon continuously served on the Executive Committee of the
7Illinois Professional Insurance Agents, including as president
8from 1985 until 1986; he was appointed to the National Board of
9Professional Insurance Agents in 1987; in 1992, he chaired the
10Consolidation Committee for the Professional Insurance Agents
11and the Independent Insurance Agents of Illinois, which formed
12the Professional Independent Insurance Agents of Illinois; in
131993, he received the C.M. Cartwright Award for his leadership
14during the consolidation; in 2012, he was recognized by the
15Society of Certified Insurance Counselors for his over 35 years
16of continuing education; and
 
17    WHEREAS, David Nixon was an exemplary member of the
18community and was actively involved in many organizations,
19including the Southwest Kiwanis, the American Heart
20Association, the Boy Scouts of America, the Kickapoo Council of
21Girl Scouts, and the Bradley University Braves Club; he was
22also a committed volunteer and supporter of youth swimming; and

1    WHEREAS, David Nixon was a devout Presbyterian and chaired
2the consolidation committee for Arcadia and First Presbyterian
3Church, which formed United Presbyterian Church in 2003; he was
4a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Peoria, where he
5served as an elder, a deacon, and most recently as church
6treasurer; and
 
7    WHEREAS, David Nixon's passing is a severe loss not only to
8the members of his family but also to his community and the
9State he served so well; and
 
10    WHEREAS, David Nixon is survived by his loving wife, Kathy;
11his daughter, Megan Nixon Swan; his son, Matt; his grandson,
12Caleb Swan; and his other relatives and friends; therefore, be
13it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16David H. Nixon and extend our sincere condolences to his
17family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
18further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of David Nixon as an expression of our
21deepest sympathy.
