HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to recognize the Franks for the Memories
4restaurant and its iconic pole sign located at its original
5location in Mundelein as a significant local cultural and
6historical treasure; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Franks for the Memories was founded in 1984 by
8Buffalo, New York natives Jim Sr. and Carol Schultz to bring a
9hometown classic, Buffalo Wings, to their new community in
10Illinois; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Franks for the Memories is famous for introducing
12the Chicago area to the delicious taste of Buffalo Wings, which
13originated at Buffalo's Anchor Bar in 1964; and
 
14    WHEREAS, The Schultz's son, Jim Jr., and his wife, Jodi,
15have continued their family's legacy and today run Franks for
16the Memories; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Franks for the Memories now serves hundreds of
18pounds of Buffalo Wings each day with the authentic side of
19celery and blue cheese and is a destination restaurant for
20families throughout Lake County; and

1    WHEREAS, The location of Franks for the Memories on East
2Hawley Street has been marked by its original pole sign for
3over 35 years; and
 
4    WHEREAS, The iconic 16-foot tall pole sign bears the name
5of the restaurant with the "F" in Franks made out of three hot
6dog links and the "M" in Memories resembling a musical note to
7create the recognizable brand of Franks for the Memories; and
 
8    WHEREAS, The pole sign signifies the decades of history and
9contributions that Franks for the Memories has made to the
10Mundelein community and contributes to the unique and historic
11character of its downtown Mundelein location; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
13HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
14we honor Franks for the Memories and its iconic pole sign as a
15local cultural and historical treasure; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to Jim Jr. and Jodi Schultz as an expression of our
18esteem and respect.
