HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Reverend
4Manuel G. "Manny" Gómez Reza of Carpentersville, who passed
5away on December 26, 2019; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Father Gómez Reza was born in Súchil, Durango,
7México to Manuel Gómez Fernández and Julia Reza Serrato on
8December 2, 1983; he attended Minor Seminary in Durango, México
9from 1998 to 2001; he attended Major Seminary in Durango,
10México from 2001 to 2008, where he received a bachelor's in
11Philosophy in 2008; he came to the United States in 2010; he
12attended the St. Paul School of Divinity in St. Paul, Minnesota
13from 2010 to 2013; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Father Gómez Reza was ordained to the priesthood
15by Bishop David J. Malloy at the Cathedral of St. Peter in
16Rockford on June 22, 2013; he served as a Parochial Vicar at
17St. Mary in Huntley, St. Rita of Cascia in Aurora, and most
18recently at St. Monica in Carpentersville; he was also
19Associate Vocation Director and Assistant Diocesan Master of
20Ceremonies for the Rockford Diocese; in addition, he served as
21Spiritual Director for the Hispanic Catholic Cursillo movement
22for the diocese; and

1    WHEREAS, Father Gómez Reza was remembered by friends as
2being open, friendly, engaging, and able to relate to people of
3all ages; he was well loved by his family, his brother priests,
4and the people he served in his parish assignments; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Father Gómez Reza is survived by his parents; his
6sisters, Rosa Guadalupe Gómez Reza, Socorro Gómez Reza, Ana
7María Gómez Reza, and Angélica María Gómez Reza; his brother,
8Jesús Javier Gómez Reza; and many relatives in Mexico and in
9Chicago; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
11HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
12we mourn the passing of Reverend Manuel G. "Manny" Gómez Reza
13and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and
14all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Father Gómez Reza as an expression
17of our deepest sympathy.
