SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

    Amends the School Code. With regard to regular and special school board meetings, provides that if a school district maintains a website, the school district must post a board packet on the website for each scheduled regular or special meeting of the board no less than 24 hours prior to the meeting. Provides that if a school district does not maintain a website, the school district must post a board packet in the school district's administrative office for each scheduled regular or special meeting of the board no less than 24 hours prior to the meeting. Defines "board packet".

1    AN ACT concerning education.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The School Code is amended by changing Sections
510-22.31c and 34-19.1 as follows:
 
6    (105 ILCS 5/10-22.31c)  (from Ch. 122, par. 10-22.31c)
7    Sec. 10-22.31c. Meetings; notice.
8    (a) In this Section, "board packet" means a document that
9provides detailed information on each item listed in a regular
10meeting's agenda or special meeting's agenda, as required under
11Sections 2.02 and 2.03 of the Open Meetings Act.
12    (b) The elected board members serving either as an
13administrative district or as a governing board under Section
1410-22.31 or Section 10-22.31a shall fix a time and place for
15regular meetings. Special meetings may be called by any 2 such
16members by giving notice thereof in writing, stating the time,
17place and purpose of the meeting. Public notice of all meetings
18must be given as prescribed in Sections 2.02 and 2.03 of the
19Open Meetings Act, as now or hereafter amended. If a school
20district maintains a website, the school district must post a
21board packet on the website for each scheduled regular or
22special meeting of the board no less than 24 hours prior to the
23meeting. If a school district does not maintain a website, the

1school district must post a board packet in the school
2district's administrative office for each scheduled regular or
3special meeting of the board no less than 24 hours prior to the
4meeting.
5    At each regular and special meeting which is open to the
6public, members of the public and employees of any of the
7districts which are parties to the joint agreement shall be
8afforded reasonable time to comment to or ask questions of the
9board members.
