SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Jesse James Ratfield of Marengo, who
4passed away on September 10, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jesse Ratfield was born to Merritt and Margaret
6(Schwarz) Ratfield on November 19, 1925; he was raised on a
7farm in Marengo and graduated from Marengo Community High
8School in 1943; after graduating, he joined the United States
9Marine Corp, where he was a corporal with the Marine Air
10Warning Squadron 7; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Jesse Ratfield retired from a management position
12at Commonwealth Edison after 39 years of service; after
13retirement, he and his wife relocated to Palm Bay, Florida; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Jesse Ratfield was an elder at The First
15Presbyterian Church in Marengo; he was a 32nd degree Master
16Mason, a past President of the McHenry County Shrine Club, a
17member of the Shriners Air Squadron, a past financial advisor
18for the Tebala Shriners, and a past Commander at the Marengo
19VFW; in 2013, he was inducted into the Marengo Community High
20School Football Hall of Fame; he enjoyed flying, traveling,
21fishing, and golfing; he will be remembered for his wonderful
22storytelling abilities; and

1    WHEREAS, Jesse Ratfield was preceded in death by his
2parents and his sisters, Della Kellogg, Normal Noe, and Neva
3Listy; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Jesse Ratfield is survived by his wife of 69
5years, Betty Lou; his children, Nancy (Jim) Jamrozek, Tom (Pam)
6Ratfield, and Bill (Pamela) Ratfield; his six grandchildren;
7and his nine great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Jesse James Ratfield and extend our sincere condolences to his
11family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Jesse Ratfield as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
