SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Phyllis Ann Lucas of Lindenhurst, who
4passed away on July 10, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Phyllis Lucas was born in Chicago to John and
6Florence (Rheude) Clark on July 25, 1938; she married Eugene R.
7"Rich" Lucas in Millburn on November 28, 1964 and settled in
8Lindenhurst in 1965; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Phyllis Lucas was the second female to serve as
10Trustee of the Village of Lindenhurst, a position she held for
11four years; she was a Precinct Committeeman; she ran for Mayor
12of Lindenhurst, Circuit Court Clerk, and State Representative;
13she was a member of the Lindenhurst Woman's Club; she was
14devoted to the Beach Community Church, where she served as a
15greeter and head of the Women's Ministry; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Phyllis Lucas loved to golf; she played in leagues
17with friends and family and on trips with her husband; she
18found much joy in caring for her family; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Phyllis Lucas was preceded in death by her
20parents; her brothers, William and Kenneth Clark; her sister,
21Hope "Stormy" Clark; and her brother-in-law, Bob Gagnon; and

1    WHEREAS, Phyllis Lucas is survived by her husband, Rich;
2her children, Stephen Vazquez, Scott Vazquez, Sheryl (Jawaid)
3Kurishy, Tami (Eric) Simpson, Michael (Misty) Frost, and
4Patrick (Michelle) Frost; her grandchildren, Serena, Amber,
5Valerie, Victoria, Shahzaib, Nikole, Stephen Jr., and Ryan; her
6great-grandchildren, Jared and another on the way; her
7siblings, Faith Gagnon and Raymond Clark; her in-laws, Doris
8Clark and Linda Walker; and her many nieces, nephews, and
9cousins; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Phyllis Ann Lucas and extend our sincere condolences to her
13family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Phyllis Lucas as an expression of
17our deepest sympathy.
