SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Douglas Martin "Doug" Cygan, who passed
4away on July 5, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Doug Cygan was born to Richard and Mary Cygan on
6May 23, 1963, and he grew up in Mundelein; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Doug Cygan was President at Jewel-Osco, where he
8first started as a parking lot cart clerk at the age of 17; he
9worked hard and was proud of the people and company he led; he
10was well-liked and respected; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Doug Cygan served on the boards of The Northern
12Illinois Food Bank, the Greater Chicago Food Depository, and
13Western Michigan University, his alma mater; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Doug Cygan was loyal, generous, funny, and full of
15life; he had a gift for inspiring others; the highlight of his
16life was spending time with his family and close friends; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Doug Cygan is survived by his beloved wife and
18best friend, Shonna; his children, Mitchell, Taylor, Alexa,
19Timothy, Mikyla, and Ryan; his brothers, Rich and Scott; and
20his mother, Mary; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
3Douglas Martin "Doug" Cygan and extend our sincere condolences
4to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
5it further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to the family of Doug Cygan as an expression of our
8deepest sympathy.
