SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Richard "Dick" Zaranto of Woodstock, who
4passed away on April 28, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dick Zaranto was born in Chicago to Peter and
6Irene (Forsberg) Zaranto on January 26, 1927; he joined the
7United States Navy at the end of World War II in 1946;
8following his two-year term, he returned home and married
9Marilyn Ratajczak at Bethany Lutheran Church in Chicago on
10April 18, 1948; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Dick Zaranto was first employed by W.A. Brown
12Manufacturing Company in Chicago; in 1951, they asked him to
13move with the company to Woodstock, where he was plant manager
14for 25 years; he then got his real estate license and worked
15for Byrnes Bros. Realty, where he won many awards for sales; he
16also worked as a rural carrier for the Woodstock Post Office
17for 15 years; he retired in 1970; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Dick Zaranto was active in his community,
19including as a member of the Woodstock Moose Lodge, where he
20served as governor for two terms; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Dick Zaranto enjoyed fishing and golfing and was a

1great billiards player; he loved taking his family on camping
2trips; he was a loving husband and father, who instilled sound
3values in his children; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Dick Zaranto is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his
5children, Kathleen (Jim) Lienlokken, Patricia Kyle, Mary (Rick
6Morreale) Zaranto, and Joseph Zaranto; his grandchildren,
7Brian, Thad, Jeremy, Gwenne, Marjorie, James, Nikki, and Jimmy;
8his 26 great-grandchildren; his sister, Shirley (Gene)
9Szydlowski; his niece, Linda (Steve) Maksinski; and his nephew,
10Dan Szydlowski; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Richard "Dick" Zaranto and extend our sincere condolences to
14his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Dick Zaranto as an expression of our
18deepest sympathy.
