SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Kenneth H. "Ken" Bruner of Waukegan, who
4passed away on April 20, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ken Bruner was born in Eagle Valley, Minnesota to
6George and Rose Bruner on April 11, 1925; he served in the
7United States Army during World War II from 1943 to 1946,
8earning the rank of private first class; he married Dolores
9"Lorrie" Ressemann in Richmond, Minnesota on June 14, 1948; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Ken Bruner and his family moved to Waukegan in
111949; he was employed with Abbott Laboratories from 1949 to
121956 and then joined Fansteel in North Chicago in 1956, where
13he worked as a machinist for 10 years and as a foreman for 18
14years; he retired after 28 years of service; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Ken Bruner was an Honorary Life Member of the
16Knights of Columbus Waukegan Council 731 and an Honorary Life
17Member of Bishop Quarter Assembly 197; he joined the Knights of
18Columbus in 1955 and was installed into the Fourth Degree in
191957; he served as a Faithful Navigator, Worthy Marshall,
20Faithful Comptroller, Grand Knight, and was Commander for
21Bishop William Quarter Assembly 197; in 2010, he was named
22Honorary Person for the Fourth Degree; he is also a lifetime

1member of the American Legion of Waukegan; he was a parishioner
2of St. Dismas Church for the past 37 years; and
 
3    WHEREAS, In 2015, Ken Bruner was a participant in the Lake
4County Honor Flight; he was part of the Sixth Annual Lake
5County Veterans History Project and was interviewed by
6Assistant State's Attorney, Fred Day; the transcripts of the
7interview were archived in the Library of Congress, and his
8story made the front page of the News Sun; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Ken Bruner was preceded in death by his parents;
10his grandson, Aaron Eaton; three brothers-in-law; a
11sister-in-law; two nephews; and his sister, Marie Hesse; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Ken Bruner is survived by his wife of almost 70
13years, Dolores; his daughter, Cindy Kofler; his son, Daniel
14(Kathy Ryan) Bruner; his grandchildren, Jessica (Chad)
15Roberts, Erik (Rachel) Bruner, Jaime Bruner, and Danielle
16Bruner; his stepgrandchildren; his great-grandchildren,
17Kyleigh Roberts, Mikayla Bruner, Elijah Brown, Amari
18Stackhouse, Brooklyn Bruner, and Kennedy Bruner; and his
19stepgreat-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
21ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
22Kenneth H. "Ken" Bruner, and extend our sincere condolences to
