SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Charles Edward "Sonny" Clark Jr., who
4passed away on March 13, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Charles Clark Jr. was born in Meridian,
6Mississippi to Ada May and Charles Alan Clark Jr. on January
720, 1945; his family was a part of the "Great Migration" and
8moved to Chicago, where he graduated from Skinner Elementary
9School and completed his education at Cregier High School; in
10high school, he joined the neighborhood Drum and Bugle Corp and
11developed a lifelong love of music, especially jazz; he found
12joy in music and played the bass and snare drums; he married
13Donna Jones in April 1969; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Charles Clark Jr. enjoyed sharing in the ministry
15of Jehovah with his spiritual brothers and sisters; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Charles Clark Jr. enjoyed entertaining his family
17and friends; he was an excellent cook and was known for his
18creative and intricate carpentry designs; he turned his love of
19skating into a family adventure by handcrafting the family's
20skates and designing personalized skate bags; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Charles Clark Jr. was preceded in death by his

1mother and his grandson, Jamel Cook; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Charles Clark Jr. is survived by his wife, Donna;
3his daughters, Sharunda Clark, Cassandra Davidson, Charlene
4Clark, Margaret (Glen) Taylor, and Keisha Clark; his sisters,
5Maxine Brown, Cheryl (Earl) Johnson, and Revlon (Larry) Burton;
6his brothers, Jerome Clark and Ronald Clark; his grandchildren,
7Jonai and Jaszmin Madison, Juwan, Kahill, and Nina Davidson,
8and Dominique Hodgens-Clark; and his many nieces, nephews,
9cousins, and friends; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Charles Edward "Sonny" Clark Jr. and extend our sincere
13condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
14him; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to Charles Clark Jr. as an expression of our deepest
17sympathy.
