SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1534

 
2    WHEREAS, The State of Illinois has become a major center
3for energy production and storage in the United States; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Illinois stores the second highest amount of
5natural gas in the United States; and
 
6    WHEREAS, The Illinois Department of Natural Resources
7through the Office of Oil and Gas Resource Management regulates
8oil and gas production well operations in the State; and
 
9    WHEREAS, The safety of Illinois residents is a priority for
10the Illinois Department of Natural Resources when developing
11new regulations; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that the Illinois Department
14of Natural Resources shall compile a report reviewing the
15current regulations for gas well operations in Illinois and
16make recommendations for changes of those regulations to
17improve public safety; and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That the report shall include a review of the
19regulations applicable to gas extraction, as well as
20underground gas storage; and be it further

1    RESOLVED, That this report shall be sent to the Senate
2President and Senate Minority Leader, the Speaker of the House
3and House Minority Leader, and the Office of the Governor, no
4later than December 31, 2018; and be it further
 
5    RESOLVED, That the report filed with the General Assembly
6shall be filed with the Secretary of the Senate and the Clerk
7of the House of Representatives in electronic form only, in the
8manner that the Secretary and Clerk shall direct.
