SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Kathryn D. "Kay" Kehoe, formerly of
4Batavia, who passed away on February 21, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Kay Kehoe was born in Bergen, New York to John and
6Jane (McCormick) Darby on May 12, 1922; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Kay Kehoe became a registered professional nurse
8in November of 1943; she married Robert L. Kehoe in her
9hometown of LeRoy, New York on January 26, 1946 and they
10settled in Batavia in December of 1950; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Kay Kehoe returned to nursing in 1967 and within a
12few years became the head nurse of the medical/surgical unit at
13Aurora's Mercy Center Hospital, from which she retired in 1987;
14and
 
15    WHEREAS, Kay Kehoe was an active member of Holy Cross
16Parish in Batavia; she was a board member and chair of an
17annual drive for the local American Cancer Society; she also
18volunteered with developmentally challenged children at Valley
19View and at the homeless shelter, Hesed House; in 1996, she was
20honored to be named the Woman of the Year for the Rockford
21Diocese; and

1    WHEREAS, Kay Kehoe was preceded in death by her husband,
2Robert; her parents; her daughter, Mary Kehoe Griffin; her
3grandsons, Andrew Kehoe and Kevin Griffin; and her six
4siblings; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Kay Kehoe is survived by her children, Jane
6(Steve) Lewis, and John, Robert (Michelle), Bernard (Valerie),
7and Dan (Mary) Kehoe; her son-in-law, James Griffin; her
8grandchildren, Tim Griffin, Sean Lewis, Robert (Ashley),
9Brian, Nicholas, Nathan, Angie, Michael (Kacey), Darby, Katie,
10and Erin Kehoe; and her great-grandchildren, Judah, Edgeron,
11Samara, Falan, Ryder, and Penelope; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Kathryn D. "Kay" Kehoe, and extend our sincere condolences to
15her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Kay Kehoe as an expression of our
19deepest sympathy.
