SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of James Forsman Stokes of Lake Forest, who
4passed away on March 1, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, James Stokes was born in Chicago to Edward and
6Laura Stokes on December 23, 1932; he attended John Carroll
7University and the Northwestern University School of Law; and
 
8    WHEREAS, James Stokes began his career in the industrial
9real estate field in 1956; he joined Nicolson, Porter & List in
101967; he was a member of the Society of Industrial and Office
11Realtors, where he was a past president of their Chicago
12Chapter and served on their National Board of Directors for
13three years; he was also a member of the Counselors of Real
14Estate, Lambda Alpha International, and the National
15Association of Realtors; and
 
16    WHEREAS, James Stokes was a longtime member of the Chicago
17Club and 1871 Room; he served on the Lake Forest Planning
18Commission; and
 
19    WHEREAS, James Stokes enjoyed music, the arts, fishing
20trips with his buddies, and yearly ski trips with his family
21and friends; he also enjoyed the fun, camaraderie, and even the

1frustration of golf; and
 
2    WHEREAS, James Stokes was the beloved husband of Mary
3Nelson Stokes; the loving father of Kathy (Paul) Moore, Lisa
4(Jay) Siefried, James (Mary) Stokes, Sheila (John) Kringel,
5Mary Beth (Johnathan) Griffis, Kyle (Bennett Lieberman)
6Stokes, and Karen Cummings; the proud grandfather of Ryan
7(Beth), Ashley, and J.B. (Carlene) Moore, Kevin, Wallis, and
8Drew Higley, Wes and Ian Stokes, Kelsey, Jackson, and Dana
9Kringel, Carly and Nina Griffis, Oskar Lieberman, Wyatt,
10Tesslina, and Brooke Cummings, and great-grandchildren, Grady
11and Harlan Moore, and the caboose, Willow Raine Moore; and
12brother of Laura Stokes and the late Michael Stokes; therefore,
13be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16James Forsman Stokes, and extend our sincere condolences to his
17family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
18further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of James Stokes as an expression of our
21deepest sympathy.
