SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Virgil Lee "Mad Dog" Monroe of Alton, who
4passed away on March 4, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Virgil Monroe was born in Alton on April 23, 1937;
6he married Margaret L. Testa on July 5, 1958; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Virgil Monroe retired from the American Water
8Company as a union pipefitter; he was also one of many
9volunteers from Locals 553 and 555 who helped with the original
10construction of Gordon Moore Park in Alton; he was a very proud
11former Marine; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Virgil Monroe was a proud supporter of St. Ambrose
13and Marquette Catholic High School, a car enthusiast, an avid
14walker and talker, and a true friend to all; he took great
15pride in being a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather;
16and
 
17    WHEREAS, Virgil Monroe was preceded in death by his wife,
18Margaret; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Virgil Monroe is survived by his sons, Tony
20(Cathy) Monroe, Steven Monroe, and Joseph (Dr. Stephanie)

1Monroe; his grandchildren, Rebecca Tobin, Stephen Monroe,
2Ashley (Michael) Riegert, Scott Monroe, Karissa (John) Hill,
3Antonio Monroe, Cody Monroe, Bella Monroe, and Christian
4Monroe; and his great-grandsons, Thayer and Holden Riegert;
5therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Virgil Lee "Mad Dog" Monroe and extend our sincere condolences
9to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
10it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Virgil Monroe as an expression of
13our deepest sympathy.
