SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Stanley C. "Stan" Sampson of Mount
4Prospect, who passed away on January 18, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Stan Sampson was born in Chicago to Carl and Anna
6(Anderson) Sampson October 19, 1924; he graduated from Lane
7Technical High School and joined the United States Army in
8March of 1943, where he was a general mechanic stationed in the
9Philippines; he was discharged in 1946; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Stan Sampson started his career at
11Schindler-Haughton Elevators; he worked his way up to district
12construction manager and retired in 1990 after 45 years in the
13elevator business; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Stan Sampson was affectionately known as "Swede";
15he grew up just blocks from Wrigley field, and as a young boy,
16collected trash in the stands after games for a ticket to an
17upcoming game; this was the start of his love for the Cubs and
18he was ecstatic when they won the World Series in 2016; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Stan Sampson was always ready to lend a hand to
20friends, family, and strangers; he especially loved doing
21handyman chores around the house and could often be found

1tinkering in his garage; neighbors would find him out in the
2garage sitting in a lawn chair watching the neighborhood; he
3loved spending quality time with his family; he was a member of
4the International Union of Elevator Constructors Local No. 2
5and American Legion Morton Grove Post 134; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Stan Sampson was preceded in death by his parents;
7his wife, Madeline Kilfoy; and his sisters, Alice, Margaret,
8Betty, and Ethel; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Stan Sampson is survived by his daughter, Linda
10(Rodger) Allhands; his granddaughter, Jessica Allhands; and
11his sister-in-law, Mary "Katie" Kilfoy; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Stanley C. "Stan" Sampson, and extend our sincere condolences
15to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
16it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Stan Sampson as an expression of our
19deepest sympathy.
