2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Pearl "Sweetie" Bell, who passed away on |
4 | | December 15, 2017; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Pearl Bell was born
in Montgomery, Alabama to |
6 | | Estelle Sankey on October 20, 1930; she attended Booker T. |
7 | | Washington High School; she moved to Chicago in the early 1950s |
8 | | and married Emanuel Bell; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Pearl Bell worked at the Reed Candy Company and |
10 | | Burlington Coat Factory
before becoming a full time caretaker |
11 | | for her granddaughter, "lil angel, Kelli"; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Pearl Bell joined Pleasant Green Missionary |
13 | | Baptist
Church in 1976 and was an active and well-loved member |
14 | | on the Ushers Board
for many years; she loved her family and |
15 | | was an active leader of the
Sankey Family Club, which planned |
16 | | family reunions, picnics, parties,
and other events; and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, Pearl Bell was preceded in death by her
mother, |
18 | | Estelle Sankey; her sister, Charlie Mae Robinson; and her |
19 | | grandson, Darrin Bell; and
|
20 | | WHEREAS, Pearl Bell is survived by her husband of 65 years, |

16 | | Pearl "Sweetie" Bell, and extend our sincere condolences to her |
17 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it |

20 | | presented to the family of Pearl Bell as an expression of our |
21 | | deepest sympathy.
