SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Elaine (Spiesberger) Frank, who passed
4away on December 23, 2017 at the age of 100; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Elaine Frank was born in 1917; she graduated from
6the University of Chicago's business school, one of only three
7women in a class of 1,000; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Elaine Frank was a visionary and lifelong
9philanthropist whose commitment to her community touched
10multiple generations; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Elaine Frank was integrally involved with the JCC
12Chicago (Jewish Community Center Chicago) as evident in the
13Elaine Frank and "Z" Frank Apachi day camps; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Elaine Frank was on the boards for the Jewish
15United Fund and the Jewish Federation several times between
161971 and 1984 and served as a vice chairman; she served on the
17Inaugural Legacies and Endowments Committee and played a
18pivotal role in launching the Federation's endowment program;
19she was a trailblazer when there were not many women in
20leadership roles in Jewish organizations; she was the first
21female president of any local Federation agency when she became

1president of JCC Chicago; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Elaine Frank was the beloved wife of the late
3Zollie; the devoted mother of Laurie (the late Paul) Lieberman,
4Jim (Karen) Frank, Nancy (Marty) Schechtman, Chuck (Debbie)
5Frank, and Sanford Elias; the cherished grandmother of Lisa
6Lieberman (Morris) Barzilai, L. Frank (Alicia) Lieberman,
7Tricia (John Ferreira) Scobey, Penny (Tim) Jack, Jennifer
8(Richard) Rofe, Daniel Frank, Jordan (Laura) Frank, Keri (Hugh)
9Norley, Kenny (Stacy) Kaplan, Nicole (Adam) Friedman, Jana,
10Zach, and Melanie Frank; the proud great-grandmother of 20; the
11dear sister of the late Rita (the late Armund) Schoen; and
12caring aunt of many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Elaine Frank, and extend our sincere condolences to her family,
16friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Elaine Frank as an expression of our
19deepest sympathy.
