SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Elizabeth "Bettie" Sczygielski, who
4passed away on December 10, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bettie Sczygielski was born in Waukegan to Andrew
6and Mary (Rompella) Schultz on August 28, 1944; she was raised
7in the heart of North Chicago's Polish community and attended
8Holy Rosary Grade School; she attended North Chicago High
9School; she married Walter "Wally" Sczygielski at Holy Rosary
10Church on September 3, 1966; they traveled extensively during
11their early years together; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Bettie Sczygielski worked as a cosmetics buyer for
13Osco Drug and retired in 1979; she then became a full-time
14homemaker and focused all of her energy on her family; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Bettie Sczygielski was involved in many
16non-profit organizations and often volunteered her time; she
17traveled frequently to visit her grandchildren; she enjoyed
18baking cookies and surprising the kids with little heartfelt
19gifts; she also enjoyed celebrating her Polish heritage and
20supporting animal rescue organizations; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Bettie Sczygielski was preceded in death by her

1parents; her husband, Walter; and her siblings, Dorothy Smith,
2Pearl Scarbalis, and James Schultz; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Bettie Sczygielski is survived by her children,
4Lauren (Daniel) Anders and Andrew (Megan) Sczygielski; and her
5grandchildren, William, Claire, Anna, Maura, and Thomas;
6therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Elizabeth "Bettie" Sczygielski and extend our sincere
10condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
11her; and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Bettie Sczygielski as an expression
14of our deepest sympathy.
