SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Shirley Mae Brubaker of Elgin, who passed
4away on October 21, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Shirley Brubaker was born in Hartville, Ohio to
6Florence (Kurtz) and William A. Anstine on January 25, 1930;
7she attended Manchester College in Indiana; she married Edward
8L. Brubaker in 1951 and they settled in Elgin; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Shirley Brubaker worked for the YMCA; she also
10worked for WJKL as the Community Club Representative; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Shirley Brubaker was a member of the Church of the
12Brethren and worked for the church magazine, "Messenger", for
13several years; she celebrated a 50-year membership in PEO,
14serving as president and in several other officer positions;
15she was a member of the Elgin Garden Club and the Elgin Junior
16Service Board; she loved to garden, play bridge, and travel
17with her husband and family; she played golf for many years
18with the Spartanettes Golf League; she was famous for her
19homemade pies and shared them at every dinner, birthday, and
20holiday; she was a collector of bunny figurines from all of her
21travels and those she just thought were "cute"; and

1    WHEREAS, Shirley Brubaker was preceded in death by her
2parents; her husband of 54 years, Edward; and her sister,
3Bernice Schumacher; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Shirley Brubaker is survived by her daughters,
5Tricia Hernandez and Sally Vincent (William); her
6grandchildren, Samuel Roberts, Kate Vincent (Josh Muller,)
7Benjamin Vincent, and Michael Hernandez; and her sister,
8Dorothy Francis; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Shirley Mae Brubaker, and extend our sincere condolences to her
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Shirley Brubaker as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
