2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Cliff Banks of Oglesby, who passed away |
4 | | on September 19, 2017; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Cliff Banks was born in Sasebo, Japan to Gale |
6 | | Glenn and Charlene (Lucas) Banks on November 14, 1956; he |
7 | | graduated from Johnston City High School, where he was voted |
8 | | most likely to succeed; he married Leslie Sawicki in Princeton |
9 | | in June 1996; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Cliff Banks was a master carpenter for 40 years, |
11 | | was a member of Carpenters Local #195, and was the construction |
12 | | foreman for local hospitals, a nearby power plant, Target in |
13 | | Peru, and the Starved Rock Welcome Center; he was the mayor of |
14 | | Spring Valley from 2009-2013; and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, Cliff Banks was an active member of the Spring |
16 | | Valley Walleye Club and fished competitively with his wife in |
17 | | the Masters Walleye Circuit; he also raised quail, which were |
18 | | released into the State of Illinois field habitat; he received |
19 | | the Volunteer Award from Horizon House; and
|
20 | | WHEREAS, Cliff Banks was preceded in death by his parents; |
21 | | his grandparents; and his brother-in-law, Robert G. Harrelson; |
