SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Eric Thomas Hyatt of Gibson City, who
4passed away on July 21, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Eric Hyatt was born in Gibson City to Wilber
6Francis and Doris Ann (Hinrichsen) Hyatt on February 4, 1970;
7and
 
8    WHEREAS, Eric Hyatt served as a Fairbury police officer for
9six years and a Gibson City police officer for 11 years; he was
10promoted to Gibson City Chief of Police in October of 2016; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Eric Hyatt was a member of St. John's Lutheran
12Church in Anchor and an active member of the Gibson City Youth
13Baseball League, where he focused on fundraising and was a
14longtime coach; he was an avid fisherman, raced remote control
15cars, and loved the St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Blues;
16his greatest joy was watching his own children participate in
17sports; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Eric Hyatt was an advocate for early colon cancer
19screening; he was an active member of The Colon Club education
20and support group, where he was a calendar model for the 2013
21Colon Club "Colonder"; and

1    WHEREAS, Eric Hyatt was preceded in death by his parents;
2his brother, Dennis Kelly; and his best friend, Shaun Ellis;
3and
 
4    WHEREAS, Eric Hyatt is survived by his wife of 15 years,
5Jami (Grider) Hyatt; his children, Ashley Ann, Shaun Charles,
6and Avery Lynn; his brothers, Terry (Jo Ann) Kelly, Steven
7(Jamie) Kelly, and twin brother, Kevin (Angela) Hyatt; and the
8family's honorary mom, Beverly Ellis; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Eric Thomas Hyatt, and extend our sincere condolences to his
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Eric Hyatt as an expression of our
16deepest sympathy.
