2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Duffield J. "Duffy" Seyller III of | ||||||
4 | Harvard, who passed away on July 10, 2017; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Duffield Seyller was born in Peoria to Duffield J. | ||||||
6 | Seyller II and Dorothy McFarlin on January 2, 1949; he | ||||||
7 | graduated from Spalding High School in Peoria and served in | ||||||
8 | Vietnam with the United States Army; he graduated from Western | ||||||
9 | Illinois University with a bachelor's degree in business and a | ||||||
10 | Master of Business Administration; he married JoAnn Strohmeyer | ||||||
11 | in Peoria on August 17, 1974; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Duffield Seyller was employed at Home Federal | ||||||
13 | Savings in Peoria, where he worked for nine years; in 1985, he | ||||||
14 | moved to Harvard, where he was employed at the Harvard Savings | ||||||
15 | Bank, later becoming chief executive officer and president; he | ||||||
16 | was a member of the Illinois League of Financial Institutions, | ||||||
17 | where he served as chairman in 2009; he retired in February of | ||||||
18 | 2014, continuing to serve on the board of directors; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Duffield Seyller was a lifelong parishioner at St. | ||||||
20 | Joseph Church, serving with the Parent's Club, the Finance | ||||||
21 | Committee, and the Pastoral Council for many years; he was also | ||||||
22 | a member of, and served as, president of the Harvard Lions |

1 | Club; he loved telling stories and making new friends; he was | ||||||
2 | an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, the Chicago Bears, and | ||||||
3 | the Notre Dame Fighting Irish; you could always find him in the | ||||||
4 | stands cheering on his children at Hornet sporting events; he | ||||||
5 | was an active golfer, participating in many golf leagues | ||||||
6 | throughout his life; he enjoyed his getaways in Galena and | ||||||
7 | exploring new places, with his wife; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Duffield Seyller was preceded in death by his | ||||||
9 | parents and his grandson, Beckett Adams; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Duffield Seyller is survived by his wife, JoAnn; | ||||||
11 | his children, Duffield (Amy) Seyller IV, Casey (Kristi) | ||||||
12 | Seyller, Molly (Coady) Adams, Shannon (Daniel) Skoglund, and | ||||||
13 | Courtney Seyller; his grandchildren, Jenna, Maddie, and Ella | ||||||
14 | Seyller; his sisters, Christine (Jack) Duke and Sandy (Mike) | ||||||
15 | Neese; and 10 nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
| ||||||
16 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
17 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
18 | Duffield J. "Duffy" Seyller III, and extend our sincere | ||||||
19 | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved | ||||||
20 | him; and be it further

21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
22 | presented to the family of Duffield Seyller as an expression of |
