SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Evelyn Dorothy Starner of Joliet, who
4passed away on June 16, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Evelyn Starner was born in Joliet to Joshua and
6Savina (Chadwick) Andrews on October 25, 1918; she attended A.
7O. Marshall Grade School, Joliet Township High School, and
8graduated from Pestalozzi-Froebel Teachers College, where she
9received a Bachelor of Arts in Education; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Evelyn Starner began her teaching career in a
11one-room schoolhouse; later, she taught many years in the New
12Lenox School district until her retirement; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Evelyn Starner was an active and generous
14supporter of Ingalls Park United Methodist Church, the Joliet
15Area Community Hospice, Habitat for Humanity, and the
16Will-Grundy Medical Clinic; she enjoyed being a hospital
17volunteer and was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Evelyn Starner was preceded in death by her
19husband, William Starner; her parents; and her sister,
20Mariellen Spiers; and

1    WHEREAS, Evelyn Starner is survived by her children, Kay
2(Leonard) Kaster and Jay (Michele) Starner; her grandchildren,
3Erica Kaster, Mark (Mallory) Kaster, Aaron (Erin) Starner, and
4Lindsay Starner; her great-grandson, Ethan Schopp; her
5nephews, Barry Spiers and Craig (Jacquie) Spiers; and her
6niece, Debbie Spiers; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Evelyn Dorothy Starner, and extend our sincere condolences to
10her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Evelyn Starner as an expression of
14our deepest sympathy.
