SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Eugene Seaver of Ringwood, formerly of
4Wonder Lake, who passed away on December 19, 2016 at the age of
581; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Eugene Seaver was born to Russell and Emily Seaver
7on August 10, 1935; he married Patricia Thilken at St. Agnes
8Catholic Church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on January 28, 1956;
9and
 
10    WHEREAS, Eugene Seaver joined the United States Army in
111955 and worked in the Chemical Corp.; Pat joined him while he
12was stationed in England and Germany; after being discharged in
131958, they moved back to Milwaukee, Wisconsin and then later to
14Wonder Lake; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Eugene Seaver was the owner of Mohawk
16Refrigeration and Eagle Sales for over 35 years; he enjoyed
17volunteering in various ministries; he was a Boy Scout and Cub
18Scout leader, a CCD teacher, a Stephens Minister, a RCIA
19sponsor, and an active member of the Hispanic Ministry at The
20Church of Holy Apostles; he was also involved in many retreats
21at the Villa; and

1    WHEREAS, Eugene Seaver lived his faith with his repeated
2missionary work in Haiti, Africa, and Slovakia; he loved to
3travel and meet people of all countries; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Eugene Seaver loved adventure, whether it was
5sledding, canoeing, hiking, or trying to surf in Hawaii; he
6will be remembered for his quiet and gentle understanding of
7people and he leaves a legacy of love and compassion; he was a
8brother in life and death to the Tamargo and Del Portillo
9families, who fled Cuba in the early 1960s; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Eugene Seaver was preceded in death by his
11parents; his wife, Patricia Seaver; his son, Joe Seaver; his
12daughter, Mary Welzen; his grandson, Jeremy Ackerman; and his
13brother-in-law, Dick Thilken; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Eugene Seaver is survived by his children, Anne
15Seaver, Cathy (Brian) Ackerman, Paul Seaver, John (Michelle)
16Seaver, and Therese (Buddy) Matthys; his son-in-law, Robert
17Welzen; his 20 grandchildren, Robert Jr. and Mary Catherine
18Welzen, Jenna Seaver, Melissa, Nicholas, Zachary, and Kelly
19Ackerman, Ashley, Matthew, Allix, and Abigail Seaver, Mark,
20Ethan, Emily, and Nicole Seaver, Brooke, Courtney, Lucas,
21Michaela, and Noah Matthys; his four great-grandchildren,
22Marcus and Rowan Seaver, and Brooklyn and Dylan Ackerman; his
23sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Thilken; his five nieces and nephews,

3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
5family and friends, mourn the passing of Eugene Seaver, and
6extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all
7who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Eugene Seaver as an expression of
10our deepest sympathy.
