AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 3062

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 3062 by replacing
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:
 
4    "Section 5. The Department of Public Health Powers and
5Duties Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is
6amended by adding Section 2310-341 as follows:
 
7    (20 ILCS 2310/2310-341 new)
8    Sec. 2310-341. Bone marrow registry inquiry; information.
9A physician may inquire of a new patient who is 18 years of age
10or older and under 45 years of age, on a new patient intake
11form, whether the patient is registered with a bone marrow
12registry. If the patient states that he or she is not
13registered with a bone marrow registry, then the physician
14shall provide information developed and disseminated by the
15Department regarding a bone marrow registry to the patient. The
16Department shall develop and disseminate information regarding

1a bone marrow registry, including, but not limited to, the
2following:
3        (1) the need for bone marrow donations;
4        (2) patient populations that would benefit from bone
5    marrow donations;
6        (3) how to join a bone marrow registry; and
7        (4) how to acquire a free buccal swab kit from a bone
8    marrow registry.
9The information under this Section may be disseminated orally,
10in print, electronically, or by any other method.
11    The Department may adopt rules to implement the provisions
12of this Section.".
