HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, March 12, 2018 marks the 106th anniversary of the
3founding of the Girl Scouts of the USA by Juliette Gordon Low
4in 1912 in Savannah, Georgia; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Throughout its long and distinguished history,
6Girl Scouting has inspired millions of girls and women with the
7highest ideals of character, conduct, and patriotism; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Through Girl Scouting, girls gain courage,
9confidence, and character, making their communities and the
10world a better place; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Girl Scouting takes an active role in increasing
12awareness of the opportunities available to girls today;
13opportunities that expand their horizons in math, science,
14health and fitness, technology, and community service; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Over 2.6 million current Girl Scout members
16nationwide believe in the power of every G.I.R.L. (Go-getter,
17Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader) to change the world; and
 
18    WHEREAS, With nearly 59 million women who are former Girl
19Scouts, Girls Scouts of the USA is proof of the impact of this
20amazing movement; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
2HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
3declare March 11 to 17, 2018 as "Girl Scout Week in the State
4of Illinois"; and be it further
 
5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6presented to the Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois.
